The real advantage
This is the real cost advantage: once you're on Enterprise, future version upgrades can run through Odoo's own upgrade service rather than requiring custom migration scripts for every schema and API change.

Still on you
The managed path absorbs the platform's own changes — it doesn't automatically make your custom modules Enterprise-compatible. Those still get reviewed and, where needed, adapted as part of the migration.
Why this is often the cheaper path
It's a common assumption that staying on Community is the budget-friendly choice. For a version upgrade, it's usually the opposite.
If you're already planning a significant version jump, that's usually the moment to evaluate whether moving to Enterprise makes the upgrade itself cheaper — independent of whether you'd otherwise want Enterprise's features.
